What should I do in a medical emergency while outside my country of residence?

Seek immediate medical attention

go to the nearest health facility without delay and ensure you keep all medical records and documentation.

Within forty-eight (48) hours,

notify the BDI medical team at precert@bestdoctorsinsurance.com, via WhatsApp: 1 305 – 240-9030 or directly through our Member Portal

If an authorization is required for the emergency, please contact the medical team with your policy number, symptoms/diagnosis and hospital name to start the authorization process.

If it's confirmed that the situation qualifies

as an emergency outside your country of residence, Best Doctors Insurance may waive your deductible, subject to the terms outlined in your contractual policy. This applies specifically to the emergency, once the required travel documentation has been received

What coverage is provided
in case of a serious accident?

If the accident is caused by an external factor and requires

over 24 hours

of hospitalization, your policy includes:

for the first hospitalization, with no deductible applied, up to your annual limit.

Your health

comes first—seek immediate care at the nearest emergency room or hospital.

Once stable

contact BDI to coordinate benefits and avoid delays with the authorization letter.

To activate

the travel benefit for emergency outside country of residence, client must receive immediate attention following the emergency and travel documentation must be provided.

To request

the serious accident benefit, medical records must be received detailing the reason for admission and the medical necessity for an inpatient stay exceeding 24 hours.

If the service

will be handled via reimbursement, please have your medical records, hospital details, and receipts ready. Supporting documentation – such as proof of travel (e.g., passport with corresponding entry/departure stamps or a copy of a business/tourist nonimmigrant visa) will also be required.

It covers the costs for transfer, coordination, and management in the event of death due to a covered illness or accident occurring outside your country of residence.

This benefit is reimbursed upon submission of required documentation.
